Returning and New Members to the OWP Board of Directors

Ontario Water Polo would like to congratulate the re-elected members Mr George Gross Jr. and Mr Tim Spence, and welcome Mr Ben Bouwer as a new member to the Board of Directors. We wish all of them good strength and energy to help OWP move forward and serve the sport of water polo in our province. Mr. Gross has been a varsity athlete, a two-time Olympian, the Canadian national team head coach, a certified international referee, founder of the Toronto Golden Jets club, and returns for a new term on the OWP Board of Directors. Mr. Spence was an accomplished athlete, referee, and coach with the London Lasers, played on the University of Toronto's varsity team, and continued his involvement at Masters and Senior levels with the Mavericks. He returns for a second term on OWP Board of Directors. Mr. Bouwer has grown from entry-level recreational programs, through national competitive levels, to high-performance international competition; he is an athlete, coach, and has served on the board of the Ottawa Titans as official athletes representative; he assists the Carleton Ravens varsity team, and joins OWP as a new member of the Board of Directors.

2018 Volunteer of the Year

Our sport relies heavily on volunteers to organize events and help with the day-to-day functions at our Clubs and Provincial events.  It is very important to take the time and recognize them for their hard work. This year, three inspiring people were nominated for the Volunteer of the Year award. We thank all volunteers for their contributions to their clubs and to our sport.

The membership has voted Lisa Pike-Young as the 2018 Volunteer of the Year. Lisa has been a leader in developing a club-wide volunteer program at the Ottawa Titans Water Polo club, which helped streamline their operations and grow the club by 600%.
